Print

I wrote the stories below for a variety of publications: Some were written for the Vail Daily, the daily newspaper in Vail, Colorado (circ. 14,000). Some were written for the Vail Trail, a weekly sister publication of the Vail Daily, and some were written for Christianity Today, a monthly magazine (circ. 145,000).

The New Refugees
Published in Christianity Today print edition, Nov. 2008.

Balancing act
Published in the Vail Trail, July 25 2008.

Rochester orchestra won’t return
Published in the Vail Daily, July 3 2008.
The music festival Vail hosts each summer is one of the biggest productions of the season. When a long-time member of the production was cut out of the following year’s schedule, I wrote this story in under two hours, tracking down and getting quotes from sources reluctant to talk.

Popcorn in the Pews
Published in Christianity Today print edition, Jan. 2009.

Challenged retail market could lower rent
Published in the Naperville Sun, Feb. 8 2008.
For this story, I called property owners, lessees and village managers in seven towns in the Chicago suburbs and compiled information for a sidebar comparing rents in each location.

The swing vote in a swing state
Published in the Vail Trail, June 20 2008.

Interviews

The Antlers: Brooklyn’s “It” Band
Published on RELEVANTmagazine.com, Sept. 2009.
I interviewed the Antlers and several other bands at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago. I also took photos to accompany the stories.
